WHAT IS TASTES
Dozens of chefs from the Meatpacking District and Chelsea will take part in this elegant culinary festival, showcasing an array of fine dishes on tables decked with white tablecloths. Patrons will purchase a ticket to sample six of these sumptuous offerings. They'll also get a chance to take historic walking tours and purchase specialty items. All proceeds from this event will support students at the NYC Lab Schools for Collaborative Studies.

WHERE AND WHEN
TASTES will be held this year on Saturday after Memorial Day - June 4th - on Gansevoort Street and its cobblestoned plaza at the heart of the Meatpacking District.

WHO
Every year, we have been honored to host at our culinary festival some of the most popular and delightful restaurants in Chelsea and the Meatpacking District. Our organizers are a committee of dedicated volunteers under the Friends of LAB 501c3 fundraising arm of the LAB School. We are grateful for the support of the Meatpacking District Initiative, Community Board 2, and our restaurant advisor, Jimmy Bradley, owner of the Red Cat.

WHY
The NYC Lab Middle and High Schools are among the city's most sought-after public schools for grades 6-12. While our students come from a wide range of economic backgrounds, they are so high-performing that the schools do not receive federal funds or other outside monies to supplement a bare-bones budget. The sad reality is that without private funding from parents and the larger community, Lab students wouldn't have arts and enrichment experiences we think should be part of their schooling. Each year, TASTES enhances our school community, enabling rich academics, faculty training and the arts, financing a school newspaper, a chess team, Model UN, technology, theater productions, a chorus, sports activities and other enrichment opportunities.
