WHERE THE MONEY GOES HISTORIC WALKING TOURS The NYC Lab Middle and High Schools for Collaborative Studies are among the city's most sought-after public schools for grades 6-12. New York Magazine twice ranked our high school as one of the city's best and US News & World Report cited Lab among the country's top 100 schools. Our middle school students gain entry to the city's top high schools and our high school graduates are accepted to the country's highest rated universities, many with scholarships. Our budding writers, some as young as 12, annually pick up Scholastic Art and Writing Awards and our math team consistently ranks among the city's highest. But Lab's 1,000-plus high-achieving students are also much more. They are nurtured to be innovative, compassionate, critical and active thinkers and changemakers. A unique inclusion program for special education students embraces these children's unique, rich talents, enhancing learning for all. Lab, on West 17th street, is truly a jewel in the city school system. But, like all public schools, Lab depends on donations to supplement its bare-bones budget. Each year TASTES enhances our school community, enabling rich academics, faculty training and the arts, financing a school newspaper, a chess team, Model UN, technology, theater productions, a chorus, sports activities and other enrichment opportunities. This year, students, inspired by the chefs, are exploring culinary arts, the neighborhood's rich food history and greening the environment. They'll lead tours, evoking days past and propel us to the 21st century as TASTES goes green!
